Miguel Oliveira Wins Misano Grand Prix as Raul Fernandez Impresses On Home Soil

Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira claimed his second MotoGP victory of the season at the Misano Grand Prix, holding off a late charge from Francesco Bagnaia to secure the win.

Oliveira started from pole position and led for the majority of the race, but Bagnaia closed the gap in the final laps and looked set to snatch victory. However, Oliveira held on to win by just 0.044 seconds, giving KTM their first MotoGP win since the 2020 Portuguese Grand Prix.

Raul Fernandez, riding for KTM Tech3, finished in fifth place, securing his best result in MotoGP so far. The Spaniard started from 15th on the grid and made his way up the field throughout the race, battling with riders such as Brad Binder and Aleix Espargaro.

Fernandez's performance was particularly impressive given that he was riding in front of his home crowd at Misano.

The 21-year-old has shown great potential in his rookie MotoGP season and will be hoping to build on his performance at Misano in the remaining races of the season.

Oliveira's win at Misano has moved him up to sixth in the MotoGP standings, while Bagnaia's second-place finish has seen him close the gap to championship leader Fabio Quartararo.

Quartararo crashed out of the race on the opening lap, handing Bagnaia a golden opportunity to close the gap in the standings. However, Bagnaia's late surge was not enough to catch Oliveira, who took his second win of the season.

The next race on the MotoGP calendar is the Americas Grand Prix, which takes place at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, on October 3.

Quartararo will be hoping to bounce back from his crash at Misano and extend his lead in the championship standings. Bagnaia will also be looking to continue his strong form and close the gap to Quartararo further.
