The MLB Trade Deadline: All the Moves That Shook the League

A Flurry of Activity Before the Deadline

The 2022 MLB trade deadline has come and gone, leaving behind a flurry of activity that has reshaped the league's landscape. In the 48 hours leading up to 6 pm ET on Tuesday, teams made a number of blockbuster deals, including the biggest trade in MLB history.

Padres Acquire Juan Soto and Josh Bell from Nationals

The San Diego Padres made the biggest splash of the deadline, acquiring superstar outfielder Juan Soto and first baseman Josh Bell from the Washington Nationals. In return, the Nationals received first baseman Luke Voit, shortstop C.J. Abrams, outfielder James Wood, and three other prospects.

Braves Acquire Raisel Iglesias from Angels

The Atlanta Braves also made a significant move, acquiring closer Raisel Iglesias from the Los Angeles Angels for catcher Shea Langeliers and a minor league prospect. Iglesias is one of the best relievers in the league and will help bolster the Braves' bullpen.

The Deadline is in the Books

The trade deadline has now passed, and teams can no longer make any further trades. The dust will settle over the next few days as teams prepare for the stretch run to the playoffs.
